Seattle-King County Asset-Building Collaborative

Financial Empowerment Training

The Seattle-King County Asset Building Collaborative has developed a series of three 1 1/2 hour workshops for case managers in social service and employment/training systems to learn about resources to help clients understand, manage, and improve their financial situation. The workshops will familiarize case managers with the free services that are available and provide resource materials to help answer clients’ financial questions. Topics include access to benefits, access to mainstream financial services, credit and debt issues, free tax preparation, financial asset assessment forms, microenterprise development, foreclosure prevention resources, and other services available through ABC partners

The goals of the workshop series are three-fold:

  • Create awareness about issues of financial empowerment: What do you need to know
  • Provide information and resources: Where can you find the necessary information and assistance for clients in need
  • Encourage the use of referrals and relationships within SKC-ABC: How do you make effective referrals
